Sensex ends 102 points up, Nifty settles above 8,700; ICICI up 2.6 pct

Indian shares ended higher on Monday, driven by strong performances by ICICI Bank and Tata Motors, as investors gear up for a crucial week of quarterly results.
 
The Nifty closed up 0.18 percent at 8,708.95. The Sensex ended 0.36 percent higher at 28,179.08, after touching an over two-week high earlier in the session.
 
The BSE Sensex closed 101.90 points, or 0.36 per cent up at 28179.08, while NSE Nifty index settled 15.90 points up at 8708.95. In the Nifty 50 index, Idea Cellular, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Asian Paints and ZEEL slipped between 1.69 per cent and 3.57. On the other hand, ONGC, BPCL, Coal India, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank gained between 2.53 per cent and 4.50 per cent.
